DUSHANBE, May 17, 2013, Asia-Plus /Payrav Chorshanbiyev/ — Over the first six months of this year, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power and natural gas, has amounted to more than 2.5 billion U.S. dollars, which was 104 percent of the January-June 2012 level or 96.4 million U.S. dollars more, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
The trade balance was negative and amounted to 1.3 billion U.S. dollars.
Exports of goods in January-June this year have amounted to 612.3 million U.S. dollars, which was 8.6 percent, or 57.5 million U.S. dollars, fewer than in the same period last year.
Imports of goods into the country over the same six-month period have amounted to more than 1.915 billion U.S. dollars, which was 8.7 percent, or 153 million U.S. dollars, more than in January-June last year.
In January-June this year, Tajikistan has had relations with 95 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.
In January-June 2013, Tajikistan’s major trading partners were: Russia – more than 436 million U.S. dollars; Kazakhstan – more than 330 million U.S. dollars; Turkey – some 303 million U.S. dollars; and China – more than 274 million U.S. dollars, the Agency for Statistics said.
