DUSHANBE, July 22, 2013, Asia-Plus — The Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan plans to conduct the census of agriculture from November 15 to December 15.

“Taking into account problems with access to mountain areas in winter, we will conduct agricultural census in Gorno Badakhshan, Rasht Valley, Varzob and Zarafshon Valley two months earlier than in other regions — from September 15 to October 15,” an official source at the Agency for Statistics told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, the schematic maps of cities and districts have already been made ready for the upcoming agricultural census.

The census of agriculture will cover all categories of farms and its main parameters include areas under crops, livestock population, the number of agricultural machines and so forth.  The census of agriculture is expected to define an extent of development of the country’s agrarian sector, problems facing the sector as well as measures needed to promote further development of the agrarian sector.
