QURGHON TEPPA, July 5, 2013, Asia-Plus — A court in the Khuroson district, Khatlon province is considering criminal proceedings instituted against a group of young men, who face the charge of human abduction.
The defendants’ lawyer, Nourullo Majidov, says the trial, presided over by the Khuroson district court chairman, Sayrahmon Davlatov, is being held at the pretrial detention facility in Qurghon Teppa, the administrative center of Khatlon province.
The trail began last month. “Eeraj Gadoyev, Qiyomiddin Qosimov and Dilshod Bukhoriyev are standing the trial, while two other members of this group – Tolib Iskandarov and Miyansar Tabarov – are still wanted by police,” the lawyer said.
According to the case materials, members of the group of Eeraj Gadoyev captured Khurshed Gadoyev in the northern city of Chkalovsk on June 28, 2012 and brought him to the city of Sarband in Khatlon province. They reportedly demanded 700,000 U.S. dollars in ransom from Khurshed Gadoyev’s relatives for his release.

The case moved to the court long ago, but the trial was being delayed because of ill health of Eeraj Gadoyev and detention of Khurshed Gadoyev, who is the victim in this abduction case.
Khurshed Gadoyev was detained by police on suspicion of a large-scale fraud on March 24, 2013.
In 2010, drug control officers reportedly found 50 kilograms of heroin in Toyota-Prado belonging to Khurshed Gadoyev. That time, a classmate and close friend of Khurshed Gadoyev, Abdujabbor Abdughafforov, was arrested. Meanwhile, witnesses say that Khurshed Gadoyev was in the vehicle alone, and most likely, he has a high-ranking protector, Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service noted in early April this year. Later, Abdughafforov was released for unknown reasons and fled the country. The Moscow law enforcement authorities reported on January 17, 2013 that Abdughafforov was arrested and the Tajik law enforcement authorities are currently seeking his extradition.
The Sino prosecutor’s office reportedly said that three months before the seizure of 50 kilograms of heroin, Khurshed Gadoyev purchased Toyota-Prado from Eeraj Gadoyev, promising to pay money later. Khurshed Gadoyev, however, has not paid money for the vehicle. Moreover, he borrowed a large sum of money from Eeraj Gadoyev and has not repaid it.
