Dushanbe. 27 August. “Asia-Plus” –  Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia’s meeting began today in Dushanbe, in the National Museum of Tajikistan.

Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan told Asia-Plus that economic discussions are quite important with Saudi Arabia, since trade between two countries falls every year, and it composed only $200 thousand for January-July of this year.

The Ministry reported: “Cooperation on increasing trade between the two countries and the adoption of appropriate measures will be the most important and key issue for discussion during the next two days. Furthermore, issues on attracting investments in energy and production sector will be discussed.”

Chair of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, Davlatali Saidov, is chairing the meeting, who in the beginning of the meeting informed the guests about investment possibilities and the investment climate in Tajikistan.

It is possible that the main issue during discussions will be Saudi Arabia”s participation in investment of CASA-1000 project and other energy projects in Tajikistan.

In addition, according to the economic agencies of Tajikistan, intergovernmental agreement between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia on the avoidance of double taxation will help investment cooperation and commodity turnover. The agreement may be signed during the intergovernmental commission meeting in Dushanbe.
