DUSHANBE, August 7, 2008, Asia-Plus — Russian Minister of Interiors, Rashid Nurgaliyev, heading a delegation of the Russian Ministry of Interior (MoI), arrived in Khujand, Sughd province today afternoon to attend the tenth united board meeting of MoIs of Tajikistan and Russia that will be held in the Tajik northern city of Qairoqqum from August 8-9.
Mahmadullo Asadulloyev, a spokesman for the Tajik MoI, told Asia-Plus by phone from Khujand that at the Khujand airport, Nurgaliyev was met by his Tajik counterpart Mahamdnazar Solehov.
According to him, the joint board meeting is supposed to consider issues related to interaction between the ministries in investigating and solving crimes committed by transnational organized criminal groupings, plans of joint actions of the law enforcement agencies of the two countries in combating drug trafficking, as well as a plan of actions of the united board for 2009. The sides will also consider issue related to the labor migration problems.
The meeting is supposed to result in signing of two agreements on jointly fighting extremism and terrorism as well as providing assistance with detaining criminals and detecting persons that are reported missing, the spokesman said.
