KHUJAND, August 7, 2008, Asia-Plus — Customs officers at the Khujand airport detained a drug peddler today morning.
According to the customs service, during inspection of passengers on the flight Khujand-Novosibirsk, one of passengers was detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.
The peddler proved to be the 30-year-old resident of Dushanbe Rasoul Rahmatulloyev. More than 400 grams of heroin were confiscated from him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under the provisions of three articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 200, Part 3 (drug trafficking); Article 32, Part 3 (preparation of crime); and Article 289, Part 2 (contraband).
