KHUJAND, August 5, 2008, Asia-Plus — Over the first six months of this year, 156 residents of the northern Sughd province have been deported from the Russian Federation, Shuhrat Rahimov, a lawyer with the Khujand airport, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, they have been deported for not satisfying requirements of the Russian law on legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation
The majority of them have been punished for failing to register within three days of their arrival in Russia. The deported persons are barred from returning to Russia for five years.
