More than 11.6 kilos of hashish seized by Tajik customs officers last week

DUSHANBE, April 14, 2014, Asia-Plus – Tajik customs officers reportedly seized more than  11.6 kilograms of narcotics in three separate operations last week.

According to the Customs Service press center, 20 packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing some 11 kilograms were confiscated from resident of Khatlon’s Hamadoni district, Khudoidod Qurbonov, 30.

In the second case, 31 grams of hashish were confiscated from Afghan national Sultan Farrukh, who tried to proceed illegally via the border crossing point (BCP) Panji Poyon.

Besides, an inspection of passengers on the flight Kulob-Moscow found 600 grams of hashish hidden in the luggage belonging to Kulob resident Mahmadullo Mahamdaliyev, 25.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against detained drug peddlers and an investigation is under way.

In 2013, Tajik customs officers reportedly seized 160 kilograms of narcotics.
