DUSHANBE, April 16, 2014, Asia-Plus – Corporate residents of free economic zones (FEZs) operating in Tajikistan have produced more than 9.297 million somoni (equivalent to more than US$ 1.9 million) worth of goods over the first three months of this year, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Over the report period, seven corporate residents of FEZ Sughd located in Sughd province on the territory of the southwest industrial zone of the city of Khujand have reportedly produced 9.215 million somoni worth of goods.

To-date, the Administration of FEZ Sughd has registered 18 corporate residents of the free economic zones, including 11 local enterprises and seven joint ventures.

Meanwhile, the enterprise, U & F Service, which has operated in FEZ Danghara (Khatlon province) since last year, has produced only some 82,000 somoni worth of goods over the same three-month period.

The Administration of FEZ Panj, which is located in the Qumsangir district of Khatlon province, has registered six corporate residents of the free economic zones, but they have not produced goods so far.

Construction of facilities in FEZ Ishkashim, which is located in the Ishkashim district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), is under way.  Last year, more than 2.6 million somoni were reportedly drawn for development of FEZ Ishkashim.

To-date, four free economic zones have been registered in Tajikistan: FEZ Sughd; FEZ Danghara; FEZ Panj; and FEZ Ishkashim.
