DUSHANBE, May 30, 2014, Asia-Plus — Members of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament have endorsed amendments, offered by the president to the country’s law on public service.
A regular sitting of the fifth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, was held on May 30.
Speaking at the session, MP Shakarbek Samadov noted that the proposed amendments were aimed at preventing corruption among civil servants.
According to him, many international organizations dealing with corruption and money laundering prevention issues have recommended to adopt those amendments.
“Under these amendments, candidates for public service jobs will undergo a special checkup,” said Samadov, “Besides, annual declarations of income and assets of public servants will be inspected and in the event of revealing false information a public servant will be fired.”
