DUSHANBE, June 10, 2014, Asia-Plus — The Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative was launched by UK Foreign Secretary William Hague and UN Special Envoy for Refugees Angelina Jolie in 2012. The Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict will be centered in London; however all British Embassies from around the world will also host the summit locally in different dates starting from June 10 -13.

According to the British Embassy in Dushanbe, the global event will bring together representatives from the governments that have endorsed the UN Declaration of Commitment to End Sexual Violence in Conflict.

In order to support the Global Initiative, British Embassy in Dushanbe will hold an  event on June 11 at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe  (OSCE) offices.

The event will be opened by welcoming  remarks from Her Majesty’s Ambassador Mr.  Robin Ord-Smith.

Participants have been invited  from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ombudsman’s Office, Institute of War and Peace, UN Women, students from the Russian-Tajik Slavonic University, Mullahs from Religious Committee, representatives from relevant NGOs as well as Tajik women that witnessed the 1992-1997 Civil War in Tajikistan.

Ms. Oynihol Bobonazarova will present a paper on the fate of Tajik women during the Civil War in Tajikistan.
