DUSHANBE, July 14, 2014, Asia-Plus – Tajik Minister of Finance Abdusalom Qurbonov met here with Mr. Jonathan Dunn, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) staff mission to Tajikistan, at the end of last week, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) Secretariat reports.

In the course of the talks, the sides reportedly discussed issues related to parameters of Tajikistan’s national budget for 2015, the budget social spending and measures to raise revenue.

The sides paid a special attention to fiscal policy, including issues related to the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP) and the Agroinvestbonk (AIB) problems as well as external debt service and relations of Tajikistan with other international financial institutions, the MoF Secretariat said.

The IMF team head also held talks with senior representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT) last week.  The socioeconomic situation of Tajikistan in the first half-year of 2014 was a major topic of Dunn’s meeting with First deputy Minister of economic and Trade of Tajikistan, Nematjon Bouriyev, that took place on July 12.

The sides also discussed issues related to industrial and agricultural productivity growth, trade and services, establishment of industrial enterprises, importing and exporting goods, activities of banks and lending system, the MoEDT press center says.
