DUSHANBE, July 15, 2014, Asia-Plus – The Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption reports that a teacher from Tajik Medical University has been arrested for taking bribe.

An official source at the anticorruption agency says they on July 2 received an application from resident of Sughd’s Zafarobod district, Ms. S. Barotova, who said that Ms. Gulchehra Kholiqova, a teacher at Tajik Medical University, demanded 11,000 U.S. dollars from her for accepting her relative, K. Isoyeva, into Tajik Medical University.

Gulchehra Kholiqova was arrested on July 3 and 11,000 U.S. dollars were found in her home, the source said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Gulchehra Kholiqova under the provisions of two articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 32 – preparation for crime and Article 247 – fraud; an investigation is under way.
