DUSHANBE, July 30, 2014, Asia-Plus — On Wednesday July 30, Tajik Foreign minister Sirojiddin Aslov met here with his Kyrgyz counterpart Erlan Abdildayev, who arrived in Dushanbe for participation in a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member nations.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, the two discussed a number of issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Aslov and Abdildayev, in particular, discussed mutually acceptable mechanisms to solve the problems existing between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

They pointed to the necessity of intensification of political dialogue and speedy implementation of agreements on mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, transportation, and border cooperation.

The sides expressed confidence that the upcoming meeting of the leaders of the two countries that will take place in Dushanbe in September on the sidelines of a SCO summit will give a new impulse to further expansion of neighborly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Tajik and Kyrgyz foreign ministers also discussed a number of regional and international issues being of mutual interest.
