More than 130 Russia and Tajik-Russian joint ventures now operate in Tajikistan.

According to the statement, Russia’s budget loses some 300 million U.S. dollars annually because of duty-free oil product deliveries to Tajikistan

The statement notes that labor migrants working in the Russian Federation send money to banks in Tajikistan and labor migrants’ remittances have stabilizing impact on the socioeconomic situation in the country.

Last year, labor migrants reportedly remitted 4.2 billion U.S. dollars to banks in Tajikistan.  In 2013, remittance inflows were reportedly equivalent to 48 percent of Tajikistan’s gross domestic product (GDP).

“Every year, Russia allots a student quota to Tajikistan.  During academic year 2013-2014, 1,113 seats were allotted to Tajik students at Russian higher educational institutions.  800 seats were allotted for academic year 2014-2015,” the statement says.

The statement also notes that the Russian Federation have provided material and technical assistance to Tajik special services, including training of personnel for them at Russian specialized training centers, since 2010.
