QURGHON TEPPA, September 23, 2014, Asia-Plus — The National Guard officer and former officer from the Muminobood fire department have been convicted of cattle theft.

The military court at the Khatlon garrison has considered criminal proceedings instituted against the National Guard officer, Junior Lieutenant Rajabali Mahmoudov, and former officer from the Muminobood fire department, Mahmadzohir Davlatov, who were charged with cattle theft.

They were fined 10,000 somoni each.  The sentence followed their conviction on charge of theft (Article 244 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code).

“Mahmoudov and Davlatov had been engaged in stealing cattle on the road Sarband-Danghara for a long time.  Local residents detained them last July and handed over them to police,” the Khatlon military court chairman, Tohir Iskandarov, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, relatives of Mahmoudov and Davlatov have restored losses to the aggrieved people.
