DUSHANBE, July 2, 2008, Asia-Plus  — State and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) were a focus of a meeting of the Minister of Economic development and trade Ghulomjon Bobozoda with Ms. Kori Udovicki, a UN assistant secretary-general and director of the UNDP Bureau for Europe and CIS, in Dushanbe on July 1, according to the Ministry of economic development and Trade (MoEDT).  

The source at a MoEDT said that in the course of the talks, the minister had briefed the UN official on effects of the past difficult winter and severe energy crisis that had caused serious damage to the country’s economy.   

Bobozoda noted that to remove existing shortcomings the government on May 2 passed a resolution on adequate measures to ensure regular work of the country’s economy in autumn-winter 2008-2009. 

 During the meeting, the sides underlined the importance of cooperation between the government and international organizations in implementing various projects in the country.
