DUSHANBE, November 25, 2014, Asia-Plus — Police officer has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of weapons trafficking.

The Interior Ministry’s website reports that an operation carried by the officers from the Interior Ministry Internal Security Department (ISD) in Dushanbe on November 19 led to the arrest of Anvarsho Beknazarov, the chief of one of departments at the Interior Ministry.

While searching his apartment the ISD officers found five pistols, three rifles, 634 bullets of different caliber, six magazines, one bayonet, and binoculars.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, police officers have reportedly discovered a large arms cache near the village of Yos in the Romit Gorge this month.

According to the Interior Ministry’s website, six assault rifles Kalashnikov with five magazines, three Makarov pistols with two magazines, one hand grenade F-1, one hand grenade RGD-5, four antipersonnel mines, three anti-tank mines, and 449 bullets of different calibers have been extracted from the cache.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way.
