QURGHON TEPPA, June 10, Asia-Plus  — A court in Khatlon’s Yovon district has sentenced four officials of Khatlon’s Khuroson district to long jail termsl.  The sentenced followed their conviction on charges of abuse of office.

 A Justice Tohir Hamzayev, who took in the trial, the head of the Khuroson land management committee Ismon Ziyoyev, the Ghallaobod jamoat head Eshonqul Ibrohimov, land manager at the Gallaobod jamoat Saidasror Ibrohimov and specialist with state unitary enterprise Zarazamin Davlatmahmad Rustamov had illegally allotted 2.95 hectares of lands to 14 Khuroson residents for housing, receiving for that totaling 8,250 US dollars and 730 somonis.   

Besides, the Khuroson land management committee head Ismon Ziyoyev demanded 600 somonis from Sharifali Gulmirzoyev, the head of the farming unit Jamilya, for land use certificate.  Ziyoyev was caught red-handed on August 29, 2007, when he was taking bribe from Gulmirzoyev’s brother Boymurod.  

Ziyoyev was convicted on the charge of bribery and sentenced to 7½ years in prison, and Eshonqul Ibrohimov, Saidasror Ibrohimov and Davlatmahmad Rustamov were sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment each.   How ever, the last three were granted partial amnesty and their sentences were reduced by one third, the judge said.
