DUSHANBE, April 20, 2015, Asia-Plus — The Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs says six Tajik nationals still remain in the conflict-town Yemen.

The Tajik MFA information department reports three Tajik national left Yemen on buses on April 16.  “On April 17, they flew from Jeddah to Dubai and from there to Dushanbe,” the source said.

According to him the Tajik Embassy in Riyadh estimates that six other Tajik nationals still remain in Yemen.  “Tajik MFA is taking all efforts to evacuate them from the war-torn country,” he noted.

We will recall that 16 other Tajik nationals evacuated from Yemen arrived in Dushanbe on April 16.  They reportedly crossed in Oman on April 12 in Oman and April 13 they arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Besides, 29 other Tajik nationals were evacuated from Yemen by planes of the Russian Emergencies Ministry on April 12.

The Tajik authorities say there were around 200 Tajik medical workers in Yemen before the current fighting started.

Tajik Foreign Ministry said recently that the Tajik Embassy in Doha (Qatar) is trying to relocate Tajik citizens in Yemen to safer areas before returning them home with the help of Russian authorities and companies.

Five Gulf states, Egypt, Pakistan, Morocco and several other Sunni Muslim countries launched a series of airstrikes against the Shia Houthi rebels, who had gained control of the capital and large swathes of territory in the west of the country on March 25.

Neighboring Saudi Arabia, has taken full control of the country’s air and sea ports, purportedly to prevent the inflow of weapons from abroad. Riyadh has openly accused its regional arch-rival Iran of funding the rebels, and fomenting unrest in the country of 25 million people.
