DUSHANBE, April 30, Asia-Plus – Jacqueline McKennan, Public Affairs Officer, the US Embassy in Dushanbe, held a meeting with students of the Journalism Department at Khorog State University.
According to Mirzojalol Shojamolov, the head of the “Journalist” Public Association, 15 students who had participated in the US-funded three-month program for raising professionalism of young journalists took part at the meeting. They expressed their opinions on issues related to raising professional level of journalists.
Ms. McKenna noted that the US Embassy intends to establish American Center in Khorog that will promote expansion of cultural cooperation.
The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe works to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the United States and Tajikistan, through events and programs that articulate U.S. foreign policy and promote greater mutual understanding between the two nations.
To do this, PAS conveys information to the Tajik media and public about U.S. political, economic, and social institutions, as well as U.S. policies on all issues of interest to the region.
In addition, PAS carries out educational and cultural exchange programs, promotes free and independent media, and provides information and resources on the development of democracy, civil society and other aspects of American culture.
