DUSHANBE, April 29, Asia-Plus –The Handover Ceremony of the Grant Project or “Preparation of the Agriculture Training and Promoting Center in Muminobod District,” implemented under the Grassroots Grant, was held in Khatlon’s Muminobod district today, press release issued by the Japanese Embassy in Dushanbe said. The Government of Japan provided US$90,070 for the Project.
The Agriculture Training and Promoting Center (the Center) is expected to become the heart of learning with practice on low-input agriculture for poverty reduction based on sustainable agricultural methods and traditional farmers’ experiences in Tajikistan and in Japan, counterplotting against the highest price of fossil fuels, mineral fertilizers and chemical pesticides.
At the Center, time to time, there will be seminars and trainings organized by the local government, academic entities, JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), and other International Organizations, including NGOs and CBOs. Learning at the Center, farmers in the district will be encouraged to try traditional knowledge and skills from Japan at their own farm plots, seeing the results of phytochemical effect, and of microbial and bacterial chemistry.
On behalf of the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Kondo Shunsuke, the Second Secretary, attended the ceremony.
Under the Grant Assistance for Grass Roots Human Security Projects, the Government of Japan has extended to the total grant of US$ 13,689,128 for 215 projects to support a variety of humanitarian and development activities in the Republic of Tajikistan since 1996.
