DUSHANBE, April 15. Asia-Plus — The Dushanbe independent radio station Imrouz (Today) founded by medial holding Orieno-Media has not yet resumed broadcasting.
The Orieno-Media director general Rustam Joni said that the radio has not aired since April 8 for technical reasons. “We have already sent two letters to Tojikteleradiocom (joint-stock company at the Ministry of Transport and Communications), which is engaged in radio frequency distribution in the country. However, we have not yet received reply from them,” Joni said, expressing hope for speedy solution of the problem.
Tojikteleradiocom has confirmed that it has the radio station Imrouz has been suspended for technical reasons.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Tojikteleradiocom deputy director Fayzullo Solehov said that new equipment is expected to arrive in the country within the next few days and Imrouz will resume broadcasting.
As it had been reported earlier, the radio station Imrouz (Today) has not aired since April 8. The Imrouz managers that time said that Tojikteleradiocom told them that air will not be available for them for two-three days “allegedly for technical problems.”
The radio station Imrouz went on the air in Dushanbe on August 9, 2007.
