DUSHANBE, May 5, 2016, Asia-Plus – The Border Guard Directorate at the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan denies the report that Mahmadali Ahmadov, who is the fourth suspect in murder of top Russian police officer and five of his relatives, was detained while crossing the Tajik-Afghan border as baseless.
“Mahmadali Ahmadov was not registered with any of border crossing points along the Tajik-Afghan border, and therefore, he cannot be detained on the Tajik-Afghan border,” Mohammad Ulughkhojayev, a spokesman for the Border Guard Directorate, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
Ulughkhojayev has also ruled out the possibility of Ahmadov’s illegal entry into the country.
We will recall that Sergey Solodovnikov, chief of the Russian Interior Ministry’s office for Samara oblast, said yesterday that the fourth suspect — an ethnic Tajik named Mahmadali Ahmadov — was detained on May 3 while attempting to cross the Tajik-Afghan border and transported from Dushanbe to Moscow.
