DUSHANBE, June 9, 2016, Asia-Plus – The Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament) today endorsed amendments proposed by a group of parliamentarians to the country’s law on licensing separate types of activity.
Presenting the amendments, MP Dilrabo Mansouri noted that the amendments provided for the procedure of legalization of licenses on separate types of activities granted outside the country.
“Such licenses should be certified by apostille,” she noted.
An Apostille is a certificate issued by a designated authority in a country where the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement for Legalization of Foreign Public Documents, Apostille Convention, is in force. Apostilles authenticate the seals and signatures of officials on public documents such as birth certificates, notarials, court orders, or any other document issued by a public authority, so that they can be recognized in foreign countries that are parties to the Convention.
We will recall that Tajikistan deposited its instrument of accession to the Apostille Convention on February 20, 2015. Following the usual procedural steps, the Convention entered into force for Tajikistan on October 31, 2015, making it the 108th Contracting State to the Convention.
