DUSHANBE, February 16, Asia-Plus — The United Nations intends to make an aid appeal to international communities on behalf of the Government of Tajikistan for meeting urgent humanitarian needs resulted from harshest winter Tajikistan is experiencing in 25 years.    

According to the UNDP CO Tajikistan, the appeal is aimed at giving humanitarian agencies an opportunity to provide the population of the country with foodstuffs, water, fuel oil for heating, first-necessity goods, as well as provide health services during this critical period for Tajikistan. 

The appeal also contains a request for providing conditions for rapid response to the possible life-threatening situation in spring when high risk of flooding and landslides will arise
