The President of Tajikistan spoke at the ceremony of farewell to Islam Karimov

At the ceremony of farewell on behalf of the Government and Tajik people Emomali Rahmon "expressed deep condolences and sympathy with the friendly and brotherly people of Uzbekistan, relatives, friends and family of Islam Karimov, calling his death a great loss for the government, the Uzbek people and all friendly countries for Uzbekistan," reported the press service of the head of Tajik state.

The press service recalled that diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan were established on October 22, 1992, and from 1995 in Tashkent there is an Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan. "The Republic of Tajikistan, taking into account the prospect of economic development, geographical location and the historically formed relations of the peoples of the two countries, pays constant attention to the further strengthening and development of mutually beneficial relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan", – stated in the message.

Currently, the contractual-legal basis of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan consists of 111 treaties and agreements in political, trade-economic spheres, which were signed since 1992 to date on the interstate, intergovernmental and interdepartmental levels. The main documents signed by the leaders of the two countries determine the most important directions of mutual relations. From the first days bilateral meetings of the heads of two states have created a favorable basis for the development and expansion of bilateral friendly, fraternal and good-neighborly relations, emphasized on the website of the press service of the President of Tajikistan.
