By president’s decree the Commission of Pardons under the President of Tajikistan has been set up.
President Emomali Rahmon signed the decree on June 7 and it will take effect on September 1, 2017.
The Commission of Pardons will be a deliberative body ensuring the implementation of constitutional competences of the president on the pardon issues.
Enclosure to the decree, in particular, notes that issues of granting pardon to persons convicted by courts of Tajikistan or courts of other countries and serving their terms in Tajikistan are being solved by the President on the basis of proposals of the Commission of Pardons. The President may solve the issue of grating pardon directly, the enclosure says.
The tasks of the Commission of Pardons include the preliminary consideration of suits for pardon and preparation of proposals on them for the president, as well as preparation of proposals for Emomali Rahmon on improvement of the country’s pardon legislation and seeking solution to problems arising in this sphere.
