Rahmon holds telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday held a telephone conversation with the Emir of the State of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

During the call, Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed his condolences on the death of Emomali Rahmon’s brother Nouriddin Rahmon.

The two sides reportedly discussed the key issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the State of Qatar.  

Recall, President Rahmon on October 9 met here with Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, brother of the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.  They discussed bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Qatar in the fields of health, industry, energy, air communication, banking, and tourism.  

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Qatar were established on December 13, 1994, and the Embassy of the State of Qatar started functioning in Tajikistan in November 2012.  In July 2013, the State of Qatar appointed its Ambassador to the Republic of Tajikistan.  Tajikistan opened its Embassy in the State of Qatar in December 2012.  In May 2013, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the State of Qatar was appointed.
