President Emomali Rahmon yesterday held a meeting to review the results of the work carried out over the first nine months of this year, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Ministers of economic development and finance reported on the results of socioeconomic development of the country in January-September this year and the draft law on Tajikistan’s national budget for 2018.

The minister of finance, in particular, noted that the revenue part of the budget for January-September this year had stood at 14.1 billion somoni, which was 0.3 percent more than it had been originally planned.

Over the first nine months of this year, the volume of retail trade has reportedly reached 13.9 billion somoni.

Over the same nine-month period, Tajikistan has generated 13.7 billion kWh of electricity, which was 469.3 kWh more than in the same period last year.

Speaking at the meeting, the head of state urged the government to refrain from non-essential expenses.

To ensure the real development of the economy it is necessary to attract more foreign investments and increase the production of industrial and agricultural goods, Rahmon noted.

The meeting participants reportedly also discussed a number of draft laws and sent them for consideration to the parliament’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon).
