Sughd governor Rajabboy Ahmadzoda today held a meeting to review the results of the past year’s work and outline priorities of socioeconomic development of the province for this year.

This year, the Sughd province has increased areas under cotton and potatoes by 15,000 hectares.
“More than 70 industrial enterprises were not in operation last year,” the governor said.
Expressing concern over the situation, Ahmadzoda ordered relevant agencies to thoroughly analyze the situation regarding privatized large and medium-sized enterprises that are standing idle.
The governor outlined import substitution and increase in production of domestic goods, including soft drinks and macaroni products, as priorities of the socioeconomic development of the province this year.
He also ordered the Sughd department for family and women’s affairs to take adequate measures to prevent suicides among and women and divorces.
Last year the number of suicides and divorces in the province reportedly increased by 54 and 373 cases respectively.
In the context of declaring 2018 as the Year of Tourism and Folk Crafts in Tajikistan, Ahmadzoda ordered the Sughd department of culture and relevant agencies to intensify work on rehabilitation of sixteen parks as well as cultural relics in the province and popularization of national clothes dress and traditions through media.
