DUSHANBE, October 16, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon has made a short working trip to the southern Khatlon province. 

During his stay in Qurghon Teppa, the capital of the Khatlon province, Rahmon will preside over meeting of local authorities to sum up Khatlon’s economic results in January-September this year.   

In the meantime, presidential press service reported that on October 14, President Rahmon visited Norak to familiarize himself with a progress of rehabilitation of pomegranate plantations there.

The pomegranate garden laid out on the area of 123 hectares near the city of Norak has been transferred to jurisdiction of Barqi Tojik (Tajik electric systems) power holding and some 100 people now work there.   

Farmers said they plan to produce 500 tons pomegranates this year and increase the harvest to 1,000 tons next year.

            The president ordered relevant bodies to take adequate measures to provide farmers with mineral fertilizers and increase their salaries.  

            On Sunday, Rahmon also visited the pomegranate plantation near the village of Daldakhuron in the Norak district.  The Daldakhuron farmers plan to produce 100 tons of pomegranates this year. 

New nine-year secondary school and outpatients’ department have been built in the Daldakhuron village.  Earlier, only a primary school had operated in the village and many children had had to go school in other villages.
