A resident of the Bobojon-Ghafourov district in the Sughd province has got a lengthy jail term for killing his former wife and her sister.
The Sughd regional court sentenced the 32-year-old Tukhtasin Kholiqov to twenty-four years in prison on December 3.
The sentence followed his conviction on charges of killing two and more persons with special brutality (Article 104 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code). Kholiqov will serve in a high-security penal colony.
Judge Anvar Vositzoda, who presided over the trial, says the tragedy took place on June 25 this year.
“Being in a state of drunkenness Kholiqov came to the house of his former wife to see his children. But she did not allow him to see them. Following quarrel Kholiqov inflicted twelve stab wounds on his former wife Parvina Majidova, 26, and two stab wounds on her 25-year-old sister Ozodamoh Majidova. Both women died on the spot,” the judge said.
