Tajikistan’s manufacturing companies interested in South Korean technologies

Date:

A five-day visit of South Korea’s business delegation to Tajikistan concluded at the end of the last week.  According to Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), a group of South Korean businesspeople visited Tajikistan for the purpose of getting acquainted with opportunities of investment in Tajikistan’s economy.

The delegation members reportedly included senior representatives of Korean industrial companies as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in various sectors of industry, agriculture, construction, tourism, and health care.

During the visit, Korean entrepreneurs held a number of meetings with their Tajik colleagues and top managers of Tajikistan’s CCI to discuss cooperation.

During the meetings, Tajik businesspeople outlined sectors like energy, mining, mechanical engineering, light industry, telecommunications, and banking as areas, which could drive the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and South Korea, according to the CCI press center.

Tajik entrepreneurs also noted that they were interested in production of domestic appliances, hygiene products, household chemical goods, and high-quality light industrial goods with use of South Korean new technologies and equipment.

According to the data of the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, the trade between Tajikistan and South Korea last year valued at some 16 million U.S. dollars, which was 18 percent more than in 2016.

16 Tajik-Korean joint ventures now operate in Tajikistan.
