President Emomali Rahmon yesterday signed a decree on measures aimed at strengthening the level of population's social security and increasing the minimum wage, public sector wage, pensions and allowances [scholarships].

By president’s decree, base wage rates of the staff of institutions and organizations, which are funded from the state budget, as well as pensions and allowances [scholarships] for students will be raised by 15 percent from September 1, 2018.  

Wages for special military ranks, servicemen and the staff of the power-wielding agencies are to be raised by 10 percent from September 1, 2018.

The minimum rate of the public old-age pension and the base pension will be raised by 15.4 percent and the maximum rate of the work-elated pension will be raised by 13.6 percent from September 1 this year and will be set 180 and 850 somoni, respectively.  

Recall, the Minister of Finance, Fayziddin Qahhorov, told reporters in Dushanbe on August 3 that “the budget has enough funds to raise wages and pensions.”
