Deputies of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament (Majlisi Oli) will hold meetings with their voters from September 10-18, Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
“During the meetings, MPs will inform their voters about the socioeconomic situation in the country and measures taken by them to remove problems facing the voters,” Sultonov said.
According to him, the parliamentarians will also report to the voters on the work they have done to implement their election programs.
Tajik parliamentarians usually hold meetings with their voters twice a year — on completion of summer recess to report to the voters and in winter to explain president’s annual address to the parliament.
Recall, Majlisi Namoyandagon deputies go on a summer recess on July 1. The summer recess lasts until August 15, and from August 16 to September 30, lawmakers work in profile committees and hold meetings with their voters. The fifth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fifth convocation will begin its work on October 1, 2018.
In case of necessity, the President of Tajikistan has the right to convoke an extraordinary session of the parliament during the summer recess.
