Rahmon receives Japanese parliamentarian Keiji Furuya

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today received Japanese parliamentarian, Mr. Keiji Furuya, who is the head of the Japan/Tajikistan Parliamentary Friendship Group.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, Rahmon and Furuya, in particular, discussed issues related to contribution made by the Japan/Tajikistan Parliamentary Friendship to expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan.

The two sides reportedly expressed satisfaction with the current social and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan and the process of implementation of the signed agreements and joint projects.

They also discussed a number of regional and international issues being of mutual interest, says the Tajik president’s website.  

The aim of Japan/Tajikistan Parliamentary Friendship Group is to foster relations between the two countries (Tajikistan and Japan) and their elected representatives.

Keiji Furuya (born in 1952) is a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party (Japan), a member of the House of Representatives (lower house) in the Diet (national legislature).

A native of Tokyo, who attended secondary schools in NY area, and graduate of Seikei University, Mr. Keiji Furuya was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 1990.  Keiji Furuya is also a member of the following groups at the Diet: Japan (Vice Chair), Textbooks, Shinto, Yasukuni, Fundamental Education Law Reform (Committee Chair), Nikkyoso, Constitutional Revision, Japan Rebirth (Delegate Chair), China Memorial Photographs Protest (Vice Chair), Proper Japan, Protest American Comfort Women Resolution, North Korea Kidnap Victims (Secretary General).
