Tajikistan’s external trade turnover estimated at more than 3.1 billion USD in January-September 2018

Over the first nine months of this year, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electric energy and natural gas, has amounted to more than 3.1 billion U.S. dollars, which was 109.1 percent of the January-September 2017 level, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The trade balance over the report period has been negative and amounted to 1.508.5 billion U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods over the first nine months of this year have reportedly amounted to 809 million U.S. dollars, which was 10.2 percent or 92.2 million USD fewer than in the same period last year. 

Shares of primary aluminum, textiles and cotton fiber in Tajikistan’s exports over the report period were 22%, 20% and 9.5% respectively. 

Over the same nine-month period, imports of goods into the country have reportedly amounted to 2.317 billion U.S. dollars, which was 17.9 percent or 352 million U.S. dollars more than in January-September last year.

Over the first nine months of this year, Tajikistan reportedly had trade relations with 97 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

In January-September this year, the major trading partners of Tajikistan were Russia (the two-way trade between Tajikistan and Russia valued at more than 750 million US dollars over the report period, an increase of 12 percent compared to the same period last year), Kazakhstan (612 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 5.3 percent compared to the same period last year), China (475 million U.S. dollars), Turkey (291 million U.S. dollars) and Uzbekistan (218 million U.S. dollars).   

Over the repot period, Kazakhstan was the main partner for Tajikistan’s exports.  Kazakhstan reportedly accounted for 22 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s exports.

Meanwhile, Russia was the main partner for Tajikistan’s imports over the first nine months of this year – more than 30 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s imports.
