The single register of pledges will now be available on Internet.  Deputies of Tajikistan’s lower chamber (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament (Majlisi Oli) yesterday unanimously endorsed the draft law on chattel mortgage and registration of secured obligations in new reading, which had been prepared by the government.

After being seconded by the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper house of parliament) and signed by the president, this law will replace the law  on chattel mortgage that was adopted in 2005.

“The law on chattel mortgage and registration of secured obligations in new reading includes an article on the single register of pledges,” an official at the Majlisi Namoyandagon told Asia-Plus in an interview.

For the purpose of making the process of registration of pledges transparent, the register will be available on Internet, the source added.

The Ministry of Justice is authorized to register pledges and maintain the register, the source added.
