Tajikistan’s year-end inflation for 2018 has been estimated at 5.4 percent, according o the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
Last month, Tajikistan’s inflation rate reportedly stood at 0.3 percent.
Meanwhile, Tajik central bank had previously forecast that the year-end inflation for last year would stand at 7.0 percent.
Tajikistan’s year-end inflation for 2017 has been estimated at 6.7 percent.
Since independence, the lowest inflation rate has been reported in Tajikistan in 2013 – 5.1 percent, and the highest inflation rate has been reported in the country in 2011 – 12.5 percent.
During 2018 prices set by producers of food products increased by 5.0 percent. The increase in cost of products of the food industry was reportedly caused by 1.9-fold rise in prices for cabbages, carrots – by 51.8 percent and butter – by 9.9 percent
Non-foodstuffs rose in cost 6.4 percent during 2018 with the prices increasing most significantly for the following: gasoline – by 18.4 percent; home appliances – by 21.1 percent; and natural liquefied gas (NLG) – by 6.6 percent.
During 2018 prices and rates for services rendered to the population increased by 4.9 percent. The ones that increased most significantly were: payment for electric energy – 4.9 percent, water supply – 10.4 percent, and air tickets – 6.4 percent.
