An Afghan national has been detained with a large amount of drugs in Dushanbe, according to the Drug Control Agency (DCA) press center.

Drug control officers have reportedly found nearly 49 kilograms of narcotic drugs, including raw opium and hashish, in an apartment rented by him.   

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained alleged drug trafficker under the provisions of Article 200 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – large scale drug trafficking; an investigation is under way.  He faces up to 20 years in prison.
