DUSHANBE, September 3, Asia-Plus — A tender for selection of contractor for implementation of the 2nd and 3rd phases of the project for construction of the road Shagon-Zighar was held at the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoIC) on August 30.
The unit for implementation of this project said that four Iranian companies and one Turkish-Kuwaiti joint ventures had placed bids in the tender.
“The bids will be considered by consulting companies (Lebanese Khatib & Alami and Tajikistan’s planning agency Loihakash) and then they will be sent for consideration to the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), which funds the project,” the source at the project implementation unit said.
The tender results will be announced approximately in two weeks, the source said.
Shagon-Zighar road is part of the road Dushanbe-Kulob-Darvoz-Khorog-Kulma-Karakarum Highway.
The construction of the Shagon-Zighar road, located in the Darvoz district of Gorno Badakhshan along the Afghani borders, comes as part of the series of efforts aimed at building broad service transport networks in Tajikistan. The focus is mainly on improving the technical conditions of the roads especially in the mountainous regions. Shagon-Zighar road has a length of 34 kilometers.
