KHUJAND, April 13, 2009, Asia-Plus — Major part of silkworm eggs (15,810 boxes of grain) has been distributed to the silkworm-breeding districts in the Sughd province,, Qahramon Jourayev, a chief technologist with the Sughd branch of Pila (silkworm breeding), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, they have purchased 21,000 boxes of grain from China and 1,000 boxes of grain from South Korea so far. “Silkworm eggs purchased from China have been distributed to the Asht, Mastchoh, Spitamen, Jabborrasulov, Bobojonghafurov, Zafarobod, Isfara and Konibodom districts,” said Jourayev, “Silkworm eggs purchased from South Korea have been distributed to three farming units in the Bobojonghafurov district.”
Sughd silkworm-breeders plan to produce 1,299 tons of cocoons this year, the chief technologist said.
