114 residents of the northern Sughd province suspected of committing extremism-related crimes have been exempted from criminal liability.

Sughd chief prosecutor Habibullo Vohidov has remarked this while addressing an enlarged meeting of the Board of the Sughd Prosecutor’s Office.

The meeting reportedly reviewed the results of work carried out by local prosecutors over the first six months of this year.

Speaking at the meeting, Sughd chief prosecutor, in particular, noted that 114 residents of the province who had been brought to justice on suspicion of committing crimes covered by Articles 307 (participation in activities of the banned political parties and organizations) and 401 (illegal recruitment of citizens for participation in foreign armed conflicts) had been exempted from criminal liability.

In all, 395 extremism-related crimes have been reported in the province of the same ix-month period, Vohidov said.
