Tajikistan national gets lengthy jail term for drug trafficking attempt and assaulting policeman in Russia

Russian policeman was reportedly stabbed after he tried to detain Tajik national suspected of drug trafficking. 

The Supreme Court of Russia’s Boshkortostan Republic sentenced a Tajik national to fifteen years in prison on October 16, according to the website of the Boshkortostan chief prosecutor’s office.

The sentence reportedly followed his conviction on charges of a large-scale drug trafficking attempt and an assault on the life of a law enforcement officer.

The 25-year-old Tajik national wills ere his jail term in a high-security penal colony.  

The incident took place in September last year in the city of Dyurtyuli.  The drug trafficker reportedly stabbed police officer several times when the latter tried to detain him.
