Consumers union’s enterprises produce 2.523 million somonis’ worth of output in January-June

DUSHANBE, July 20, Asia-Plus — Over the first six months of the year, enterprises of Tojikmatlubot (Tajikistan’s consumers’ union) have produced a total of 2.523 million somonis’ worth of output, Sirojiddin Valiyev, the chairman of the Tojikmatlubot board, remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 20. 

According to him, over the report period, consumers’ union has organized 160 shops to realize coal to the population.  “We have to stock up to 15,000 tons of coal for the population in autumn-winter 2007-2008,” the Tojikmatlubot board’s chairman said.   

“Over the same six-month period, local producers baked some 3.5 tons of bread and produced 106 tons of confectioneries, some 22 tons of sausages and more than 46,000 deciliters of soft drinks,” Valiyev said.  

In January-June 2007, Tojikmatlubot’s enterprises have purchased some 3 tons of grain, 838 tons of meat products, 760 tons of milk, 1.344 million pieces of eggs, 2,582 tons of potatoes, 863 tons of fruits, 5,348 tons of vegetables, 45 tons of honey and 480 tons of dried fruits from farmers.  

As of July 1, 2007, 300 small and medium-sized industrial enterprises have been in operation in Tajikistan.  “Besides, 20 new enterprises have been launched in the country during the report period, and 22 other enterprises that stood idle for different reasons have resumed their activities in January-June this year,” the Tojikmatlubot top manger said.  

Over the report period, the number of bee families has been brought to 772, which is 90 families more than in the same period of last year.  

Valiyev added that the number of bookshops had been increased to 63 and book departments at other shops to 164.   Число предприятий общественного питания достигло 669.

            The number of public catering facilities has been increased to 669.  

On the foreign economic activity of consumers’ union, Valiyev said that Tojikmatlubot had concluded two loan agreements with colleagues from China for $1 million and $3 million respectively.  “At present we are expecting guarantee from the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) in order to start delivery of goods, first of all, food products and building materials, to the country,” Valiyev said.
