KONIBODOM, July 19, Asia-Plus — Over the first half-year of 2007, the northern city of Konibodom has produced a total of 19.268 million somonis (equivalent to $5.6 million) worth of industrial goods, which is 5..717 million somonis more than in the same period last year, Ilhom Homidov, the head of the industries department of the Konibodom mayor’s office, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

Over the report period, 16 of 18 local industrial enterprises have worked.  “Joint stock company Assor dealing with producing cotton oil has not been in operation because of lack of raw materials, and the limited liability company Ravot-Adriya producing alcohol drinks has not been launched because it failed to get license,” the industry department head said.

According to him, because of lack of raw materials  three local enterprises, including joint stock-company Konibodom (cannery), printing-house and vegetable-fruit-processing workshop at Dehqon (Peasant) Farms’ Association Iram, have delivered products 1.229 million, 3,600 and 27,000 somonis short respectively.
