Based on request of Dushanbe mayor the Ministry of Transport has issued an order banning Dushanbe taxi service companies from using cars manufactured before the year of 2014.

This measure is reportedly taken for the purpose of ensuring the safety of passengers and improving the level of service for passengers in the capital city.

“Of eleven taxi service companies operating in Dushanbe, only Olucha Taxi has cars manufactured in 2017.  According to our data, 2,300 cars now serve residents and guests of Dushanbe and 1,271 of them were manufactured before the year of 2014,” the head of the State Unitary Enterprise (SUE) “Dushanbenaqliyotkhadamotrason” (public transport service), Jumakhon Davlatov, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Recall, the Government of Tajikistan in early February 2018 issued a decree banning the delivery of vehicles manufactured before the year of 2005 into the country.  The ban took effect on February 15, 2018.
