Medical workers again attributed a death in the northern Jabbor-Rasoulov district last Tuesday to pneumonia.  According to them, a 55-year-old Abdkhalil Jouraboyev, who died in a hospital in the Gulakandoz jamoat on the night of April 21, had problems with the airway and chronic diseases.

“Jouraboyev was laying with a high fever at home for 4-5 days and went to doctor on April 13.  He was hospitalized on April 14 and was quarantined at a hospital in the Gulakandoz jamoat.  Jouraboyev had been connected to a ventilator since April 15 and he died of pneumonia on the night of April 21,” Marouf Hojiboyev, the deputy head of the Sughd Directorate for Health and Social Protection of the Population, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

He further added that Jouraboyev had suffered respiratory complications and urolithiasis disease.

Hojiboyev noted that Jouraboyev had not gone abroad.

“Over the first three months of this year, 24 people in the Sughd province died of pneumonia; 7 cases more than in the same period last year,” the official said.

Hojiboyev also noted that they had begun house-to-house visits in all jamoats, districts and cities of the province.

“We hospitalize all who have even mild respiratory disease and place the rest in a quarantine zone,” he said.

According to Hojiboyev, 687 people are currently in quarantine in the Sughd province.
