“The decision has been made so that bazaars, clothing markets, hairdressing salons, sports gyms and other service facilities in the region will have time to better get ready,” a source within the GBAO government told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, GBAO governor Yodgor Faizov, his first deputy Alisher Mirzonabotov, Khorog mayor Kishvar Shamiri and GBAO police chief Rustam Mirzomurodzoda visited Khorog’ central market on June 15 to get acquainted with its sanitary conditions.

They reportedly ordered to improve the sanitary conditions and to make the market ready to operate on June 20.

It is to be noted that although the Khorog central market is the food one, but it also has shops for non-foodstuffs; therefore, it has been temporarily closed due to coronavirus-related epidemiological situation.

To provide local residents with agricultural goods, GBAO authorities have ordered to create “farmer corners.”  They have also ordered to temporarily move all clothing and other non-food shops from the central market to the “Twenty Years of Independence” clothing market.

Meanwhile, all the public facilities, clothing markets, shopping malls, beauty salons, sanatoriums, restaurants and others, which had been temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 situation reopened in in other regions of the country on June 15, in line with the decision   of   the   Inter-Agency   Standing Committee on COVID-19 Response.
